Glaucoma (an increase in internal eye pressure that can lead to damage in the optic nerve and eventually cause blindness) is a common condition that can start showing up about the same time as retirement. If one wants to enjoy one’s “golden years,” it’s important to maintain one’s eyesight. Recent research indicates that adding auricular acupressure to a treatment program for glaucoma does improve the intraocular pressure. Something to check out with your ophthalmologist? This research is presented in the article, “Acupressure for Glaucoma,” in the December, 2010, issue of Natural Standard’s Integrative Medicine Newsletter.
