Relevant options to enhance
your health

The American Holistic Health Association (AHHA) offers a free monthly Special Updates email report that includes a Featured Research item. The goal is to present research that may be relevant as you (and your healthcare support team) consider health-enhancing lifestyle and treatment options. Through the years AHHA has used a number of sources that generously provided us appropriate research to be included in the eReports. These sources were selected because of their known high standards for evaluating research. One source, Aisle 7, is unfortunately no longer in this database. The new parent company for Aisle 7 discontinued this project and according to our agreement AHHA was required to remove all of their articles.

Parkinson's Disease - Tai Chi

A new study suggests that tai chi may improve balance for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Researchers randomly assigned 195 Parkinson’s patients to participate in resistance training, stretching, or tai chi. They found that patients in the tai chi group performed better in the stability tests throughout the study. Patients were still feeling the benefits of tai chi three months after the treatment ended. Even better, no serious adverse effects were noted. If you or a loved one is dealing with Parkinson’s, consider adding tai chi to your integrative therapy program. You and your physician can review the research details in the article “Tai Chi May Improve Balance for Parkinson’s Patients“from the February, 2012, issue of Natural Standard’s Integrative Medicine Newsletter.
