The first AHHA Board of Directors decided to make all AHHA materials available at no charge. This plan was based on running the organization with volunteer staff, donated office space, and small contributions from people nationwide. We are honored to introduce these hardworking volunteers currently serving on our AHHA Board of Directors:

Suzan V. Walter, MBA is co-founder and current president of the American Holistic Health Association, and served as president of the American Holistic Medical Foundation from 1988 - 1990. In addition to volunteering 20 hours a week for AHHA, she has a private consulting practice and serves on the Education Committee for the Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium.

Gena Kadar, DC, CNS is an Associate Professor of Clinical Nutrition and Chair of the Division of Integrative Health Sciences at Southern California University of Health Sciences. A certified nutrition specialist and licensed doctor of chiropractic, she is also a nutrition blogger and author of A Manner of Living. She has served as a corporate wellness consultant, executive director of The Dick Butkus Center for Cardiovascular Wellness, and for nearly a decade led a successful clinical practice. She has received numerous accolades for her teaching, service, and scholarship including a 2012 teaching award from UCI School of Medicine's Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine.

Susan J. Negus, HHD has a strong background and education in business and holistic health. She has dedicated her life to educating and helping people live a healthier life. She has an acute understanding of the relationship and interaction of the body, mind and environment, how the body works and the effects of chemicals and nutrients on people. Dr. Negus is co-founder of Dreamous Corporation, U.S.A., a company offering all natural, premium quality health and beauty products since 1994.

Connie Bjerk, CGIT, RM, is a certified guided imagery therapist trained to do counseling for relaxation, stress reduction, pain control, habit control, problem solving, and personal and spiritual empowerment. She received clinical training in Mind/Body Medicine from the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine in conjunction with Harvard Medical School. She is also a Reiki master in the Usui lineage. Connie is a guest lecturer on integrative medicine for the University of Dakota Psychology Department and Medical School. Her other educational endeavors with individuals, school districts, and organizations include presentations, classes, published articles, and a monthly column online at

Herbert L. Jacobs MD, FACOG, FACS, ABIHM is an educator, author and lecturer on mid-life wellness research programs. His early medical career included 35 years as an OB GYN physician. He is also Board Certified in Holistic Medicine, and was the Medical Director of the Denver School of Nursing, and now, the co-owner of Pacific Home Care and Pacific College of Allied Health. He has continued on the University of Colorado Clinical Faculty, and is the spokesperson for the Colorado Medical Society's Task Force on Holistic and Complementary Integrated Medicine. He works to establish community programs for helping people improve their own health and staying well.

H. Garrett Thompson, DC, PhD, dean of instruction and professor at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, earned his doctorate in biochemistry from Loma Linda University. He is also a licensed doctor of chiropractic. Dr. Thompson has researched a number of pathologies, including breast cancer, asthma and bone diseases. In addition to his other publications, he is the author of a textbook on biochemistry, as well as chapters in the textbook Introduction to Public Health for Chiropractors. He has received numerous accolades for his teaching and leadership.
